Weather Update: Condition 2 Operations Begin Saturday

Out of an abundance of caution and based on the latest forecast information from the National Weather Service, UNC Pembroke will move to Condition 2 (Suspended Operations) beginning 5 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 24, and continuing through 12 p.m. (noon) on Monday, Jan. 26.
- All campus events and activities scheduled for this weekend are canceled.
- All Monday morning classes are canceled.
- Classes will resume at 12:20 p.m. on Monday, unless otherwise communicated.
In a Condition 2 status, the university remains open on a limited basis and suspends all but mandatory operations due to minimal staffing levels. Employees designated or temporarily assigned as mandatory must report to work or remain at work as directed. All other employees should not report to work or should leave the workplace when this status takes effect. Supervisors are encouraged to use discretion and prioritize safety when addressing employee travel or work-related concerns.

The following campus operations are planned for Saturday and Sunday, but are subject to change in the event of power outages or worsening conditions:
- The cafeteria will continue to serve meals on the regular schedule for students who remain on campus.
- Chavis Center will be open for regular hours Saturday and Sunday.
- The HawksNest will be open Saturday, 4–8 p.m. and Sunday, 1–6 p.m.

The Emergency Operations Initial Threat Assessment Committee (ITAC) will meet again on Sunday. Should conditions warrant, an update on the university’s operating conditions will be issued.
